In the context of declining participation and low visibility of trade unions among young people in Europe, the TUAC2026 project aims to develop a sustainable model of non-formal education and transnational cooperation, empowering a new generation of young trade union activists.
Over the course of 24 months, a consortium of 11 partners from 7 European countries will work on creating the conditions for developing and testing the Trade Union Academy (TU Academy), an educational program for young trade union activists.
The three key objectives of the project are:
- Enhancing youth participation within trade union structures;
- Strengthening transnational cooperation and networking among young trade union activists through joint academies, workshops, and regional initiatives;
- Increasing the visibility and attractiveness of trade unions through modernized communication strategies and the development of digital tools for engaging young trade union activists
Role of IFDT
The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory is the leading research partner in the project. The IFDT team is responsible for conducting comparative qualitative research in seven countries through focus groups with future and current trade union activists.
