On Wednesday, October 9th at 11:00 o’clock in the morning, in the Festive Hall at the Rectorate, the honoris causa of the University of Belgrade will be awarded to the renowned American philosopher, Judith Butler, at the proposition of the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory. In this occasion, Judith Butler will deliver a lecture Critique, Dissent, and the Future of the Humanities. Entrance if free.
Judith Butler is Maxine Elliot Professor in the Department of Comparative Literature and the Program of Critical Theory at the University of California, Berkeley. She is the author of several significant works and articles in the field of gender studies, critical theory, political philosophy and ethics. She has received several awards for an outstanding academic contribution to the Humanities, feminist and moral philosophy. Butler is also an activist for human rights and strongly advocates anti-war politics, non-violence and radical-democratic principles.
