[Book seminar] Book launch of the edited volume “Human-animal relations as social relations” (Sentience)
We cordially invite you to attend the promotion of the edited volume Human-relations from the perspective of the social sciences and humanities (eds. Marija Branković and Sonja Žakula). The event will take place on Friday, April 24th at 18:00, at the “Polet” gallery (Cetinjska 15) in Belgrade.
About the book:
The edited volume is the product of work and cooperation within the SENTIENCE research group at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, and its goals are twofold: academic and wider societal. The papers in the book summarize relevant contemporary knowledge on human-animal interactions across philosophy, law, sociology, anthropology, and psychology. In the wider sense, the book is intended for anyone interested in or engaged with the issue of animal welfare. Wishing to introduce the public to the scientific aspects of this topic, we invite everyone interested to attend the promotion: the academic community, animal rights activists, animal welfare groups, and anyone interested or inspired by this topic.
Speakers: the editors Dr. Marija Branković (Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory) and Dr. Sonja Žakula (Institute of Ethnography SASA), Dr. Maja Pasarić (Institute of Ethnology and Folklore, Zagreb), Dr. Ivana Živaljević (Faculty of Philosophy, University of Novi Sad), and Ognjenka Lakićević, poet and musician. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Nevena Milanović Minić (Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade).
