[Book seminar] Everyone Is Afraid of Gender: Gender Research Laboratory New Edited Volume (GenLab)
The discussion of the recently published edited volume by the Gender Research Laboratory is conceived as an attempt to address, from multiple perspectives, not the question who is afraid of gender? but rather why is everyone afraid of gender? Through the presentation of the volume Everyone Is Afraid of Gender: Contemporary Contestations and Uses of the Concept in Serbia, edited by Tijana Matijević and Milica Resanović, the conversation will analyze the rise and success of the anti-gender movement, which has both a global dimension and an increasingly visible local face. Likewise, just as the volume itself “represents an academic act of resistance to anti-gender tendencies in Serbia,” this discussion aims to demonstrate how critical feminist thinking about the status of gender and gender equality can contribute to expanding the “terrain of social struggles.”
