Profesor Ewa Nowicka-Rusek is a sociologist and renown filed researcher. At present she works at Collegium Civitas. She was a head of Social Anthropology Unit at University of Warsaw (2000-2014) and worked at University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In the years 1995-1998 she was the chairwomen of the Section of Social Anthropology of the Polish Sociological Society.
Her main field of interest entail: contact between cultures, indigenous peoples of Siberia (Buryats, Yakuts, Koriaks), Balkan dispersed ethnic group Vlachs (or/and Aromanians), national and ethnic minorities in Europe especially Roma, Vietnamese minority and Greek repatriates from Poland. She conducted field research in Europe, Siberia, Mongolia, China and Nepal. She is the author, co-author and editor of dozens of books. Her textbook The World of Man – the Word of Culture: a systematic lecture on the problems of cultural anthropology (Świat człowieka – świat kultury. systematyczny wykład problemów antropologii kulturowej) has been reissued several times. The latest book, written with Ayur Zhanajew is: On Both Sides of Onon. Buryats on the Russian-Mongolian Border (Po obu stronach Ononu. Buriaci na pograniczu rosyjsko-mongolskim (Collegium Civitas, 2020),
Marjan Ivković is a sociologist and Research Fellow at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade. He is also coordinator of the Laboratory for Social Critique of the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory. His research focuses on problems of contemporary social theory and critical theory, in particular the analysis of the potential of different varieties of contemporary social theory for conceptualizing and diagnosing complex forms of societal domination in the era of neoliberal revolution. He is the author of the monograph Kritička teorija Aksela Honeta: ka prevazilaženju metafizike (The Critical Theory of Axel Honneth: Towards the Overcoming of Metaphysics, IFDT, Belgrade, 2017) and numerous articles in international and Serbian academic journals.
Barbara Bossak-Herbst is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Sociology, University of Warsaw. She is the author of books: Warsaw Enclave. The Social World of Horse Racing at Służewiec (Warszawska enklawa. Świat społeczny wyścigów konnych na Służewcu (Oficyna Naukowa, 2020) and Antropolis. Contemporary Gdańsk’s in a Symbolic Dimension (Antropolis. Współczesny Gdańsk w wymiarze symbolicznym) (Trio, 2009). Her articles appear in such journals as Journal of Urban Affairs, Space and Culture and Memory Studies. She is also the author of ethnographic film 450 Kilos of Dreams (450 kilo marzeń), 2018. Her research interests include: urban studies, visual culture and multispecies relations.
