Installation of Digital 3D Reconstruction of the Jasenovac Camp
The Archives of Vojvodina, Žarka Vasiljevića 2a, Novi Sad
As part of the project “Installation of Digital 3D Reconstruction of the Jasenovac Concentration Cmp”, the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory of the University of Belgrade, Center for the Promotion of Science, the Archives of Vojvodina, and the company Eodyne Systems S.L., will present an interactive virtual panorama of the Jasenovac camp in the Archives of Vojvodina.
Visitors will have the opportunity to interactively “immerse” in the history of the Jasenovac camp and, moving through the virtual panorama, get acquainted with archival material that includes objects, objects, photographs, documents and testimonies of surviving camp inmates. The installation will be open for public from 13th December 2022 to 15th January 2023.
The 3D reconstruction of the Jasenovac camp is the result of cooperation between JUSP Jasenovac, the research group SPECS-Lab and the company Eodyne Systems S.L. on the digital preservation and reconstruction of the site of mass crime. For the reconstruction, the latest digital technologies such as virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) were used, offering the possibility for both the expert and general public to better understand the camp, as well as innovative applications in educational and cultural institutions.
At the opening of the Jasenovac camp virtual panorama installation, a panel discussion will be held on the use of modern digital technologies in the preservation of cultural and historical heritage:
