[Panel Discussion] Lithium Mining and Environmental (In)justice in Serbia and the World
The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory of the University of Belgrade invites you to the promotion of the brochure “Lithium Mining and Environmental (In)justice in Serbia and the World”, which will be held on December 21, 2025, in Loznica, at “Kod Mališe” at 5 PM.
The brochure contains ten short texts by authors from Argentina, Chile, Portugal, Germany, and Serbia, which examine contemporary experiences of lithium mining from various perspectives. We consider the comparison of international cases particularly valuable, as they clearly point to the negative consequences and hidden costs of lithium mining, as well as the harm borne by local communities. The texts also show that lithium mines in most other countries are primarily located in uninhabited and isolated areas, which is an important fact when compared to the situation in Serbia.
All participants of the event will receive a link to the full publication.
Furthermore, we would be extremely pleased if you would take part in the panel discussion during the promotion.
