[Presentation of project results] Presentation of the Digital Archive “Remembrance through Inclusion and Dialogue” and promotion of the monograph Shared Future: Youth for Inclusive and Dialogic Memory (YugoLab)
Societies in Southeast Europe are still divided by conflicting stories about the past, culprits and victims, especially since the wars of the 1990s, which are reproduced in schools, politics and the media, and used to strengthen nationalisms, instead of understanding others and building a shared future. The interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary project „Shared Future: Youth for Inclusive and Dialogic Memory”, which was carried out by the Institute of Philosophy and Social Theory of the University of Belgrade (IFDT) with the support of the British Council, aimed to encourage dialogue about the past from different perspectives and thus contribute to the reduction of divisions. As a result of the project work, a digital multimedia archive was created based on field research conducted by students from Serbia, Kosovo*, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Montenegro. The archive contains interviews, photographs, and visual records that document the memory of wars, war crimes, migration, women’s experiences, inter-ethnic cooperation during the conflicts, and life experiences related to the wars of the 1990s. The monograph Shared Future: Youth for Inclusive and Dialogic Memory presents the project and essays by students who participated in the project, and relates to the topics of their research.
