[Public visit] Sajmište concentration camp (ShoahLab)
🗓 April 22 🕒 13:00 CET 🔹 Staro Sajmište
On the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of the Holocaust, Genocide and Other Victims of Fascism in the Second World War, on April 22, 2023, ShoahLab organizes a visit to the site of the former Nazi camp at Sajmište. The camp was established in December 1941 as Judenlager, i.e. a camp for Jewish women and children, while from May 1942, after the killing of Jewish inmates, it became Anhaltelager, i.e. a camp for forced laborers and captured members of the resistance movement. Many Roma women with children were also interned in the camp. During the visit, the participants will have the opportunity to learn about the history of the place, as well as its fate after the Second World War until the present day and the establishment of the “Staro Sajmište” Memorial Center. The visit will be led by Dr. Milovan Pisarri, research fellow at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory and ShoahLab coordinator.
The visit will begin at 13 from the place of former entrance to the camp.
The event will be photographed and recorded due to publishing on social networks, the website and other information channels for the purpose of promoting the event and activities of the Institute.
