[Summer school] Sixth summer school of social engagement and democracy ANDEM 6
What are democratic institutions, and how can they remain independent? What models of democracy exist, and how can deliberative democracy contribute to addressing issues of public importance? What do we actually mean by the common good and the public interest?
The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory at the University of Belgrade, in cooperation with the University of Sarajevo and the University of Podgorica, under the auspices of the Western Balkans Fund, is organizing the Sixth Summer School of Social Engagement and Democracy, dedicated to reflecting on the key social and political issues of our time. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the relationship between economic development, well-being, and human flourishing, the challenges faced by ethnic minorities, the place of gender in the field of science, as well as many other topics. Special attention will be devoted to social engagement: from the philosophical questions it raises to the practical possibilities for radical social change.
The ANDEM Summer School brings together lecturers from the fields of sociology, anthropology, psychology, political science, and philosophy. Its goal is to provide participants with theoretical tools for critically reflecting on society, as well as practical frameworks for engagement in the direction of social change, with a special emphasis on the meaning and significance of democracy.
