The Laboratory for the Philanthropy, Solidarity and Care Studies (SolidCareLab) applies an interdisciplinary approach to the study of and reflection on philanthropy, solidarity, and care.
The Laboratory for the Philanthropy, Solidarity and Care Studies applies an interdisciplinary approach to the study of and reflection on philanthropy, solidarity, and care. These notions, pushed to the margins of social science research, have been reincarnated and reexamined in a new light in contemporary social theory thus becoming pivotal for understanding the relationship between the individual and the community. Through rigorous empirical and theoretical research, education initiatives as well as collaborations with academic institutions, civil society and governmental organizations and bodies, SolidCareLab seeks to shed light on the dimensions, roles and statuses of philanthropy, solidarity and care while taking into account both their historical significance and current challenges. Our endeavors will contribute to a better understanding of the policies and institutions which are designed to secure care and welfare for all individuals, communities and society as a whole.
The goals of the Laboratory for the Philanthropy, Solidarity and Care Studies: improving and disseminating knowledge in the study of philanthropy, solidarity and care and in related areas; improving exchanges and cooperation between the academic community, civil society and policy makers; developing international cooperation
