The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory fully supports the response of the Faculty of Political Sciences, which we hereby transmit in full.
The Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Belgrade most strongly condemns the attack on Professor Filip Ejdus from the TikTok and Instagram account “zemljazanasrs,” in whose video—broadcast on these and other digital platforms on February 22, 2025—hate speech, as well as national and religious intolerance, are disseminated, and in which Professor Ejdus is targeted as an “anti-Serb” and accused of “anti-Serbian activity.”
The false, disturbing, and extremely dangerous accusations linking Professor Ejdus’ education at foreign universities with “recruitment” by foreign services represent an attack on his personal and professional integrity.
We also consider it unacceptable that, in such a dangerous and harmful context, the identities of our other professors are exploited, as they are falsely accused of “recruiting students for anti-Serbian activity.”
The management of the Faculty of Political Sciences demands urgent action by the relevant institutions, primarily the Prosecutor’s Office for High-Tech Crime, so that the owners of the accounts from which the video was broadcast on February 22, 2025, can be identified and punished.
We demand that, in accordance with the Constitution and the law, such misleading of the public through social media be prevented and severely punished, given that we know how thin the line can be between slander, targeting, and inciting hatred, and endangering lives and personal safety.
Once again, we emphasize that only a timely and concrete response from the competent authorities can stop the wave of threats, pressures, verbal, and especially physical attacks on professors and students.
