[Summer school] ANDEM Summer School
The seventh Summer School on Engagement and Democracy – ANDEM will take place from 7 to 11 September 2026 at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade.
Undergraduate and master’s students from various study programs across Serbia and the region will explore a range of questions including: What do social and political engagement mean today, and is it possible to remain outside of them? How do care, solidarity, emotions and collective action intersect in times of social crisis? How do contemporary crises transform democracy, and what roles do deliberation, pluralism and agonism play in collective decision-making? How are digital platforms, artificial intelligence and participatory practices reshaping the possibilities for social and political action? What does gender equality entail, and how do feminist and queer perspectives shape our understanding of social change?
The lectures and workshops will be delivered by researchers from the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory. The aim of the summer school is to provide theoretical tools for critical reflection on society and for practical engagement towards social change, with a particular focus on the meaning and importance of democracy.
