SENTIENCE is a research group that studies human-animal interactions from the perspectives of the social sciences and humanities: philosophy, anthropology, sociology, archaeology, law, and psychology. Through scientific work and the dissemination of knowledge, we aim to raise awareness on this topic and provide high-quality scientific insight to inform the social debate.

Simpozijum Psychological perspectives on human-animal interactions
The symposium will be held as part of the international conference Empirical Research in Psychology, which takes place from March 28 to 30, 2025. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about a range of current research on the psychology of human-animal relationships. The symposium will be held on Saturday, March 29, at 10:45 AM in the conference center Envoy (Gospodar Jevremova 47).

SENTIENCE group brings together an interdisciplinary team of scientists around a common interest in human-animal interactions. We believe that the relationship between humans and other animals is a topic of interest to humans, animals, and the environment, and we would like this topic to be better recognized both in our country and globally. The vision of the group is a society of solidarity that acknowledges non-human animals and their well-being. The mission of the group is to create knowledge about human-animal interactions through scientific research and dissemination of this knowledge within the academic community and the general public. First, the group aims to conduct scientific research into various aspects of human-animal interactions within the disciplines of philosophy, anthropology, sociology, archaeology, law, and psychology. Further, we aim to establish collaboration with similar organizations in our country and internationally to exchange knowledge and develop projects. Finally, the group aims to contribute to the social debate on animal welfare as well as the common welfare of humans, animals, and the environment.
