The main objective of the project “Learning Democratic Participation” was to promote democratic innovations as efficient path towards increased participation of informed citizens in the democratic process.

The project developed and delivered three actions leading towards this idea:

  • Democracy in Practice – simulations of a deliberative democratic process leading to empowering citizens for taking a stand in their local community. In November 2020, two Citizens Assemblies were held – in Belgrade on the traffic mobility in the city centre, and in Valjevo on the air pollution.
  • Summer School on Social Engagement and Democracy – ANDEM aiming at increasing the level of political literacy and acquaintance with contemporary theories and practices in the field of democratic participation and social engagement. The school took place in September 2020, bringing together more than 30 attendees;
  • Active for Social Change – series of two-day workshops aimed at active members of local civil society organizations and social movements. In total, nine workshops were organized in nine cities in Serbia through the period of project realization.
