UniSAFE – Ending Gender Based Violence (GBV) is an EU-funded research project that aims at eradicating gender-based violence from the research sector. The project started on February 9, 2021, and over the next three years, project activities will be conducted across Europe and will involve researchers, students, stakeholders and decision makers. The project will analyse the different mechanisms of gender-based violence, as well as its social determinants at three different levels, using a holistic research model:
- The rate of gender-based violence will be analysed through data collected by an online questionnaire between 45 partner organizations (micro level).
- The answers received will be further processed through data collected from detailed case studies, interviews and strategic mapping of research organizations in 15 Member States (meso level).
- Legal and policy frameworks will be examined through extensive mapping by national experts in 27 European and 3 associated countries (macro level).
Such a research plan will provide a better insight into existing problems, help determine current and future priorities, and will result in operational tools and recommendations for reducing gender-based violence in the European academic environment. The project is implemented by 9 partner institutions, and the University of Belgrade has the status of an external partner.
