The lecture, held on November 13, 2024, at the IFDT, focused on the safety of vulnerable road users—pedestrians, cyclists, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. Key challenges and solutions were explored through contemporary approaches to sustainable urban mobility and human-centered engineering.
Igor Velić, a master transport engineer and editor of the Safe Paths portal, emphasized the importance of integrating technical, infrastructural, and legislative measures to enhance safety and accessibility in urban environments. Special attention was given to reducing motorized traffic speeds, expanding pedestrian and cyclist priority zones, and applying information technologies in traffic regulation.
The lecture gathered experts from the fields of traffic, urban planning, and the civil sector, aiming to define concrete steps towards a more inclusive and safer traffic space in Serbia.
