At the invitation of the French Institute in Serbia, Mr. Joseph E. Stiglitz, Nobel Laureate in Economics, engaged intellectual and internationally recognized professor at Columbia University, born in the United States of America, will speak in Belgrade about his vision of Europe — yesterday’s, today’s, tomorrow’s — from a personal, intellectual, and political perspective.
The conversation will be moderated by Amos Reichman, Director of the French Institute in Serbia.

Joseph Stiglitz is an American economist and professor at Columbia University. He is also Co-Chair of the Independent Commission for the Reform of International Corporate Taxation (ICRICT) and Chief Economist of the Roosevelt Institute. Stiglitz received the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 2001. Previously, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank, as well as a long-time member and Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers. In 2000, Stiglitz founded the Initiative for Policy Dialogue, a think-tank dedicated to international development operating at Columbia University. In 2011, Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world. In 2024, he was named an honorary academician by the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences, and in 2025, Pope Francis named him President of the Jubilee Experts Commission for Addressing Debt and Development Crises.
