On Monday, November 20th, in the evening hours from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, The Center for Critical Democracy Studies at The American University of Paris (AUP) hosted an event featuring Gazela Pudar Draško, director of The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory at the University of Belgrade (IFDT). Also participating in the event were university professors Éric Fassin from Paris 8 University and Philip Golub from AUP, as well as Zona Zarić, a Research Fellow from IFDT.
This event was organized to coincide with the publication of the book: Refusing to Be Silent. Engaged Conversations with Leading Intellectuals (Mimesis International, 2023), edited by Gazela Pudar Draško and Zona Zarić from The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory.
The event went beyond merely marking the release of a book that serves as a testament to The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory’s struggle to preserve its autonomy. Its aim was to foster deeper reflection on the dynamic relationship between intellectual and broader political engagement, as well as the role of social and humanistic sciences in understanding and shaping societal changes.
