Description:
The book deals with the phenomenon of contemporary self-help manuals, focusing on the period from 1980 until 2018. Drawing on the theoretical work of Michel Foucault, as well as numerous others, the book maps various models of subjectivity that can be found in such self-help manuals. Through this given framework, Milan Urošević places the resulting models of subjectivity into historical and cultural context, connecting the growth of popularity of self-help books with the rise of neoliberalism and the latter’s impact on the everyday lives of people and the broader cultural sphere.
