In 2001, the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory partnered with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation to organize a series of expert public panels dedicated to the analysis of circumstances and perspectives for the ongoing reforms of the political, economic, scientific, education institutions in the Republic of Serbia, meant to draw the country out of decades of authoritarian rule. The pinnacle of these efforts was the scientific gathering held in October 2001 in Banja Koviljača (“Institutional Re/Construction of Serbian and Yugoslav Society – One Year On”), the results of which are presented to the public in this book.
