International Academic Workshop “The Ombudsman’s Response to Global Crises” will take place on 22 – 23 June 2026 at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade.
The workshop conveners – Luka Glušac (University of Belgrade), Naomi Creutzfeldt (University of Kent), and Chris Gill (University of Glasgow) – invite papers that examine the role of the ombudsman in the context of the following global crises and challenges: the climate crisis; growing insecurity and armed conflict; increased migratory flows and human mobility; attempts to undermine universities; rule of law and democratic backsliding; global health challenges (including Covid); and the social, environmental, and economic impacts of artificial intelligence. The workshop is expected to result in an edited volume with a university press. The deadline for applications is 15 March 2026.
