The relation of processes of integration and resistance to them on the global level is no longer posed as an abstract theoretical question, but of direct practical interest, even as a question of war and peace. The countries created in the aftermath of the dissolution of Yugoslavia, after a long period of wars, are once again faced with various forms of integration, despite their attempt to demonstrate the particularity of their traditions. The possibility of transformation of Serbian society and its harmonization with the regional and global integrations is closely bound to the problem of tradition. The relation of integration and tradition coalesces around the debate between the traditionalization and modernization of Serbian society.
