The book follows the spiritual development of Prussia at the moment when it becomes a significant European power. In this context, it shows various ideological frames and manifestations of political philosophy of the 17^th and 18^th centuries, from the Dutch to the French experiences and paradigms. Particular emphasis is placed on the dominance of the idea of raison d’état in the Prussian Enlightenment, whose application had far-reaching consequences.
