Contemporary theory of rational choice, which is the dominant approach in social sciences, has revealed a whole slew of paradoxes at the heart of foundation of democracy. Theoretically speaking, is democracy indeed justified to the extent it is believed? The two basic aims of this book are to present key arguments formulated with regard to democracy within the theory of rational choice, and their critical examination.
