The publication Degrowth Tourism is an attempt to think about a different type of tourism. Tourism that is not based on the commodification of travel and socio-ecological unsustainability, but on the principles of sustainability and contribution to the community. Degrowth tourism is also based on practices such as focus on local communities, anti-materialism, decommodification and low-tech solutions. Vacations should be less organized and industrialized. By traveling more leisurely, the traveler gets the opportunity to appreciate the destination in a deeper and more meaningful way.
