Sara Božičević is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Graz enrolled in the interdisciplinary Ph.D. program “Law & Politics.” Sara Božičević has a BA in political science from the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Zagreb, Croatia. After spending an exchange semester at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Belgrade, Sara Božčević decided to focus her studies on the Western Balkans region. She enrolled in the Interdisciplinary Studies of Southeast Europe, a joint degree program conducted by the University of Belgrade and the University of Graz.

Sara Božičević’s research interests lie in the intersection of urbanism, history, sociology, and anthropology. Her dissertation is a qualitative study based on extensive ethnographic fieldwork in the largest informal settlement in the region Kaludjerica neighborhood. The study analyzes how the identity of the informal settlement Kaludjerica is constructed and negotiated. The research deals with the power relations between the periphery and the city center and what does it mean to be urban or rural in Serbian society.
