Nikolić Sara
Sara Nikolić is an anthropologist and Research Fellow at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade.
Her research, grounded in critical and engaged ethnography, focuses on practices of housing, homemaking, and urban self-management in the post-socialist city. She is particularly interested in how social relations, shared resources, and political practices are shaped through the everyday use and appropriation of space.
She contributes to the broader field of critical housing studies as a member of the editorial collective of Radical Housing Journal.
She holds a PhD in Ethnology and Anthropology from the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Belgrade, where she defended her dissertation in 2024, titled “Anthropology of New Belgrade Blocks: Urban Housing, the Production of Social Space, and the New Life of Urban Commons.” During her doctoral studies, she was awarded the prestigious Sasakawa Young Leaders Fellowship (2020/2021 and 2021/2022).
She coordinates the Laboratory for Theory, Creation and Politics of Space (PerspectLab) and is a member of the Laboratory for Philanthropy, Solidarity and Care Studies (SolidCareLab).
