Tepavac Tara
Tara is a Research Associate at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory at the University of Belgrade (IFDT). She holds a joint MA degree in Interdisciplinary South-Eastern European studies from the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade, and the University of Graz (Autria), where she’s currently a PhD candidate in Law and Politics. She further advanced her academic training through study and research stays, including at the Centre for Southeast European Studies (CSEES), University of Graz, and as an SSEES Visiting Fellow at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College London (UCL).
Her research focuses on the analysis of democratic institutions and processes in semi-authoritarian regimes, with particular emphasis on the role and functioning of parliaments and independent oversight bodies. Her work addresses processes of democratisation and democratic backsliding, democratic innovation, and deliberative democracy. She has published several academic articles and public policy analyses and has coordinated national, regional, and international projects within the civil society sector and academia. She is currently involved in the coordination of the Horizon Europe project Nets4Dem, dedicated to democratic innovation.
