The formal presentation of the ‘Zagorka Golubović’ Award took place at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory of the University of Belgrade.
This year’s recipient is Đurica Stojanović, a Junior Researcher at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Niš, for the paper entitled ‘Civil Disobedience or Not – The Case of Road Blockades in Serbia’. The article was published in the journal The Sociological Annual (Issue 20/32).
The award was presented by Ivan Vejvoda, Acting President of the Institute’s Management Board. During the ceremony, the significance of the young author’s scholarly contribution to the analysis of contemporary social processes and the phenomena of civic engagement was highlighted.
In his address, Đurica Stojanović expressed his gratitude for the distinction, emphasising that it represents not only a singular honour, but also a lasting obligation to pursue further research in the spirit of intellectual engagement that defines this award.
The Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory established the ‘Zagorka Golubović’ Award in 2021 with the objective of encouraging early-career researchers to engage in socially committed scholarship. The accolade is granted for the pre-eminent paper published in a peer-reviewed journal or edited volume that adopts a critical and engaged approach to relevant social issues within a regional or broader international context.
By conferring this award, the Institute continues to affirm high-level research that synthesises academic excellence with social responsibility, thereby honouring the scholarly legacy of Zagorka Golubović.
