As part of the global 16 days of activism against gender-based violence campaign, the gender research laboratory is organizing a presentation of a book and report on the topic of obstetric violence in Bosnia and Serbia. Guests of the institute will be Dr. sc. Zlatan Hrnčić (BiH) and lawyer Marina Mijatović (SRB).
The book “Violence against pregnant women in Bosnia and Herzegovina – family, health system and work relations” by dr. Hrnčića is intended for the professional and scientific community, but also for all other interested parties who aim to contribute to the creation of a better social environment for family planning, the improvement of women’s reproductive health and social policies in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
A team of lawyers from Belgrade – Marina Mijatović, Jelena Stanković and Ivana Soković Krsmanović – conducted research on obstetric violence in Serbia. The lawyers’ report points to serious violations of human rights in Serbian hospitals.
The aim of the conversation will be to map gender-based violence in health care institutions in both countries and to discuss common steps towards improving women’s human rights and women’s reproductive health in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
