The book Scene urbanog života: porodična kuća u savremenom gradu [Scenes of Urban Life: The Family House in the Contemporary City] by Dr. Ana Nikezić is the result of her research and pedagogical work in the course “The Contemporary Urban House” at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Belgrade. Alongside her earlier book, Formati za urbani život [Formats for Urban Life], it provides a foundation for understanding the phenomenon of the family (individual) house in the context of the complexities of urban everyday life. Starting from the idea of the “house in the city,” the author constructs methodological frameworks for interpreting contemporary urban life by means of architecture. In this sense, the book raises a critical question: how can (architectural) space be thought when faced with the elusive experience of the contemporary city?

Dr. Ana Nikezić is a full professor at the Faculty of Architecture, University of Belgrade, where she teaches architectural design and architectural theory. Her research and teaching focus on the relationships between architecture and nature, as well as architecture and urban life, with a particular focus on socially responsible architectural education. She is the author of numerous scholarly articles and books, including the monographs Formati za urbani život (2018) and Scene urbanog života (2022). Dr. Nikezić has been involved in various research projects, conferences, and workshops and has participated in and won awards at several urban planning and architectural competitions and exhibitions.
