[Panel discussion] Serbian-Croatian Dialogue: Can Books Cross Borders? (YugoLab)
🗓 Dec 12 🕒 18:00 CET 🔹 Envoy Conference Center
The relationship between the political and intellectual elites of Serbia and Croatia is often based on mutual animosity. Almost three decades after the wars ended, the relationships between Serbia and Croatia perpetuate the condition of “frozen conflict” which is why it becomes necessary to start searching for areas in which social, cultural and historical connections between the two peoples can bring forward the best for both societies. In this panel, representatives of some of the most prominent publishing houses from Croatia and Serbia will discuss the cooperation in the domain of culture, more specifically, publishing. The goal is to identify barriers and benefits that can be used to affirm mutual collaboration in the promotion and marketing of literary, scientific and other works published in these two countries. Besides, the panellists will reflect on the habits of readership, differences and similarities in publishing scenes, but also new circumstances brought about by the (post)information societies and their relevance for the future of publishing.
Panellists:
Ivan Sršen, editor of Sandorf Publishing
Nenad Rizvanović, writer and former editor in publishing companies VBZ and Naklada Ljevak
Bora Babić, director and editor-in-chief, publishing company Akademska knjiga
Zoran Hamović, director and editor-in-chief, publishing company Clio
