[Panel discussion] World Congress Foucault: 40 Years Later, Belgrade (CriticLab)
The extent and importance of Foucault’s work and Foucauldian scholarship in the Balkans has so far remained unexamined. Therefore, even though there are occasional examples of engagement with Foucault’s ideas by scholars from the Balkans no joint endeavor to develop a unique Foucauldian approach or examine the importance of Foucault’s ideas for the scholarship in the humanities and social sciences in this part of the world has ever been attempted.
Participants in this seminar will discuss the importance of Foucault’s work for their own research and for contemporary social sciences and humanities. They will discuss how they implemented Foucault’s ideas in their own work, and what difficulties they faced. Also, the possibilities for using Foucault’s concepts and methods in contemporary social contexts will be discussed.
