[Workshop] Presentation of research findings Closeness and Care: Elderly care in Serbia during the Covid19 pandemic (SolidCare Lab)
🗓 Sept 15 🕒 12:00 CET 🔹 IFDT
SolidCare Lab will present the results of the research Closeness and Care: Elderly care in Serbia during the Covid19 pandemic on September 15, 2022 at 12 am at the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory (Kraljice Natalija 45, IV floor).
The goal of the research was to understand the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the practices of closeness and care for the elderly in Serbia. The Covid19 pandemic has affected how we understand and practice care. The safety imperative in this crisis requires people to refrain from close and direct contact. Since the virus is especially dangerous for the elderly, they are the most affected by the restrictions imposed by the pandemic, while at the same time they often need immediate care. Using the pandemic as a specific context, we analyzed different forms of care for the elderly in Serbia. The research allowed us to understand the problems and challenges of caring for the elderly that have emerged during the pandemic.
The project is implemented by the University of Belgrade, the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory (IFDT), i.e. SolidCareLab (IFDT), and the Initiative for Economic and Social Rights A11, with the financial support of Bard College through the University Network of the Open Society Foundation (OSUN).
