Khōrein: Journal for Architecture and Philosophy is a newly established academic journal published by the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade. The journal is dedicated to the dialogue between architecture and philosophy and the problematization of key concepts and protocols that make the connection between the two disciplines possible.
In that sense, the most important word in the journal’s name could be the conjunction “and” – the word that assumes the possibility of connecting the two disciplines but does not reveal the complexity of such a connection. This is why the inaugural volume of Khōrein, which consists of two issues, thematizes the word “and.” The two issues bring two different ways of emphasizing this word – one that involves the use of quotation marks (architecture “and” philosophy) and the other that suggests writing in cursive (architecture and philosophy). The editorial decision to introduce this distinction, however, is not aimed at classifying or (dis)connecting various reflections on the word “and.” Instead, it only testifies to its discursive potentials.
