On Thursday, October 22, at noon, the exhibition “Medical Deserts” opened at Gallery Podroom of the Cultural Center of Belgrade (Knez Mihailova 6). The exhibition was organized by the SolidCareLab and PerspectLab laboratories of the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory and is open until November 22, 2026.

The exhibition addresses structural inequalities in access to health care in Serbia from the perspective of women living in rural areas. It is based on ethnographic research conducted in 2025 in villages of the Central Banat, North Banat and Zaječar districts, as part of the WARM project. Artists Ana Adamović, Ana Cvetković, Ivana Smiljanić and Adrienn Újházi responded to the themes of this research with their video works, and Branko Milošević created a map of medical deserts in Serbia. Visitors are also invited to share their own experiences with the health care system, which become part of the exhibition and of further anthropological research.

The authors of the exhibition are Dr. Ljiljana Pantović, Dr. Sara Nikolić, Marko Ristić and Dr. Ivan Đorđević, with curatorial support from Zorana Đaković Minniti, Senka Ristivojević and Vladimir Bjeličić.
