The award ceremony honoring Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Prize laureate in economics, will take place on December 13, 2025, at 5 PM, in the Hall of the Cultural Centre of Belgrade, Kolarčeva 6. Following the ceremony, Professor Stiglitz will deliver a public lecture titled “Freedom, Academia, and Social and Economic Progress.”

The “Miladin Životić” award, presented by the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, is awarded to distinguished scholars and public intellectuals whose work and public engagement contribute to freedom of thought, social justice, and the development of a critical public sphere.
Joseph Stiglitz is a professor at Columbia University and one of the world’s most influential economists. He received the Nobel Prize in Economics in 2001 and is widely known for his work on inequality, economic development, and the role of public institutions. He is the author of numerous influential books and a long-standing advocate of socially responsible and inclusive economic policies.
