The main goal of the UNIGEM project network is to design gender-responsive and gender-sensitive policies in higher education, establish gender equality bodies in academic institutions, integrate gender equality themes in university curricula, and sensitize faculty, students, and administrative staff to gender equality and fight against gender-based violence.
The main activities of the University and Gender Mainstreaming project are:
– Establishing gender mainstreaming policies and mechanisms in academia (e.g. signing memorandums of cooperation between state or private universities or other institutions, governmental or non-governmental organizations that support gender mainstreaming strategies or integration of gender politics in curricula, distribution of research, creation of related documents),
– Strengthening academic exchange of regional universities and international experts (e.g. organization of conferences, call for papers, involvement in the research, organization of winter schools, publishing academic output),
– Empowering and sensitizing university structures for gender equality and fight against gender-based violence (e.g. various trainings for faculty and students),
– Gender mainstreaming impact analysis (e.g. impact analysis study on project implementation success and challenges, final conference on project implementation).
Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory coordinates the project in Serbia on behalf of the University of Belgrade and is actively involved in all project activities.
