The Faculty of Law at the University of Zenica and TPO Foundation from Sarajevo are pleased to invite you to apply for the three-day summer school “Gender, Law, and Justice,” which will be held from September 4th to 6th, 2024, at the premises of the Faculty of Law, University of Zenica, as part of the UNIGEM project implemented at 19 universities.
The summer school “Gender, Law, and Justice” offers a unique opportunity for law students from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, and Montenegro to deepen their understanding of gender justice and its impact on legal systems and society. The program will include interactive workshops, lectures, and trial simulations, enabling participants to develop a critical understanding of the relationship between gender, law, and justice.
Topics covered in the program:
- Gender equality and justice
- Access to justice and sustainable development
- Recognition and analysis of gender discrimination cases
- Implementation of international conventions such as CEDAW and the Istanbul Convention in combating gender-based violence
Participants will work on developing legislative proposals to improve gender equality. The working methods include interactive workshops where participants will work in groups to analyze hypothetical cases and create legislative proposals, lectures by experts in law and human rights, panel discussions with renowned lawyers and judges, and trial simulations that will allow for the practical application of acquired knowledge.
By participating in the summer school, students will gain a deeper understanding of how gender roles and identities influence legal norms and processes. They will develop practical skills needed to recognize and analyze gender aspects within the legal framework and to advocate for gender justice. Additionally, this is an excellent opportunity for networking with students and professionals from the region, and for exchanging experiences and ideas. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate confirming their acquired competencies and knowledge.
