Just war theory provides reasons for the use of force in certain conditions and establishes ties between the concept of war and that of necessity. In other words, it thinks war as a phenomenon necessary for the resolution of a morally inappropriate societal situation. Asymmetrical Wars and Just War Theory comprises texts from important European and American thinkers on the topic and problematizes the role of philosophy in justifying the war, not only through from the standpoint of ethical norms and definitions of war and intervention, but from the positionality of the philosophers themselves.
