Author(s) Gazela Pudar Draško , Petar Bojanić Publisher Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade Published 2011 ISBN 978-86-80484-22-8 Pages 218 Edition Conferentia
Although a unique historical and geopolitical project, the European Union as an institution finds itself searching for itself. On the one hand, it is attempting to be a progressive role model to the rest of the world, while on the other, it is struggling with identity, national and other questions. This collection presents the challenges faced by Europe at the moment when it must “choose” whether it will be a kind of civic superpower or remain a collection of states bound by bureaucracy in Brussels. The authors of the texts offer models for overcoming present problems faced by Europe, expound a criticism of neoliberalism, and contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of basic European values, such as liberalism and cosmopolitanism.
