In relation to various ways of understanding domination, this book looks at Bourdieu’s approach to the political field, education, science, art, and power. Particular attention is paid to Bourdieu’s understanding of male domination, which, in his view, is a “thread” running through all these fields. These fields have been selected because Bourdieu dedicated one or more books to each, and because the exhaustiveness and systematic nature of their analyses allow for a comparison and illumination of their specificities in regard to domination.
