The basic question of this book is how is it possible to achieve any kind of consensus if we take into consideration a pluralism of individual interests, beliefs, worldviews? The author proposes that the answer to this question ought to include the notions of the public mind and deliberative democracy. Building on the idea of the public mind, the book examines what are the basic elements with regard to politics that citizens would have to agree upon so that the plurality of their interests, beliefs, worldviews remain intact.
