Pupovac Maja

Maja Pupovac is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade, and a member of the Laboratory for Active Citizenship and Democratic Innovations [ActiveLab]. She received her doctorate in political science from the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki and a Master’s degree in Southeast European studies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In her doctoral research, she dealt with the impact of armed conflict on the collective consciousness and sense of belonging of internally displaced persons in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thus combining the themes of war, forced migration, nationalism, memory and identity, as well as disciplines such as political sociology and cultural anthropology. Recently, she has been engaged in expert and consulting work within several international projects, researching how local communities understand the problem of air pollution and environmental protection and their attitudes regarding the social, cultural and identity consequences of a just energy transition.
