This project looks at where gender equality stands in Serbia through two connected tracks.

Research in medical deserts. We explore how women—especially Roma women—access reproductive healthcare in medically underserved, predominantly rural areas (“medical deserts,” where services are scarce or hard to reach). The work combines desk research with fieldwork in two municipalities (one predominantly Roma, one non-Roma): semi-structured interviews, ethnographic walks, and mapping of service access. Findings are thematically analyzed and distilled into a comparative report with clear, practical insights for policymakers. Results are shared publicly and through targeted meetings with decision-makers.

Training for educators. We strengthen the capacity of secondary-school staff to recognize and counter gender-based stereotypes via an accredited online training, All Our Identities—a 16-hour program delivered over two weeks to around 30 participants. The course blends short lectures, case discussions, and guided activities, supported by digital and printed materials via Google Classroom. After the training, we collect and analyze participant feedback and publish a concise summary with recommendations for scale-up and institutionalization.

Why it matters. By pairing grounded research with practical training, the project turns evidence into action—informing policy on healthcare access while helping schools foster more equitable learning environments.
