Author(s) Davor Džalto Publisher Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade Clio, Belgrade Published 2016 ISBN 978-86-7102-547-8 Pages 174 Edition Special edition
The book considers a topic tied to the twentieth-century art, but important for understanding the very idea of art in Western culture: tautology in artistic practices of the twentieth century. It focuses on ways in which tautology as a logic and linguistic form deployed in thinking or speaking about a work of art, artist, or even art in general. The use of tautology in artistic practices can be interpreted as the final stage of the development of the idea of autonomy of art.
