Symposium “Philosophy in the Classroom”
Edulab: Laboratory of Educational Theories of the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, University of Belgrade, is organizing a professional gathering for high school philosophy teachers in the form of a symposium, entitled Philosophy in the Classroom.
Although philosophy has its place in our educational system, research into specific pedagogical approaches and methods applicable in high school philosophy teaching is relatively rare. This gap indicates a need for a deeper understanding of the methods through which philosophical content and ways of thinking can be effectively conveyed to students, to ensure that pedagogical strategies match the goals of philosophical education. Researching, creating, and publishing comprehensive studies on the methodology of teaching philosophy would enable not only the development of innovative teaching practices but also provide clear insight and broader understanding of the potential of philosophy teaching in the educational and developmental growth of students. There is an evident need for further research in this area, which would enrich both educational theory and pedagogical practice. With the professional gathering Philosophy in the Classroom, we aim to initiate a professional discussion in this direction.
The symposium will be held on June 25, 2024, starting at 9 AM, on the 4th floor of the Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory.
Philosophy in the Classroom is approved by the Serbian Institute for the Advancement of Education and Upbringing under code 1179.
The event is financed as part of the UNIGEM project (University and Gender Mainstreaming), managed by the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo.
