Erhard Busek is an influential Austrian politician, Deputy Prime Minister of Austria between 1991 and 1995, and then the Austrian government’s special representative for EU enlargement issues. Since 2002, Busek has served as special co-ordinator of the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe. He is currently the Coordinator of the South East European Cooperation Initiative (SECI) and the Director of the Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe. The annual SEEMO Media Organization for Southeast Europe award for contributing to better understanding among people in the region bears his name.
