Ugo Mattei (University of California, Hastings College of the Law / Università di Torino) is a Alfred and Hanna Fromm professor of international and comparative law at the University of California –Hastings in San Francisco and a professor of civil law at the University of Turin in Italy. In the last Few Years Mattei has been researching the commons, especially in his role of the academic coordinator of International University College in Turin, the faculty where the questions of law and finance in global capitalism are critically researched. Mattei has managed the innovative project of managing the entire water system of Naples as a common (2012-14), and currently, as a deputy mayor of Chieri, a city in Piedmont, works at promoting the First International Festival of Commons which will be held in July of 2015.
